"If it wasn't for meeting Charles, I wouldn't have a clear path ahead of me."Maclan S.

The Hidden Problem

You can feel the performance in your head.
Why can't we see it on the tape?

Before you press record, the scene makes sense. You have ideas. You can feel the character, the relationship, everything sitting underneath the words. Then the red light comes on. You hear your voice. You arrange your face. You wonder whether the choice is big enough, whether casting will understand it, whether this looks like the version that books the job. By take nine, the tape is cleaner. It is also dead. The talent hasn't gone anywhere. It's trapped behind the effort to show it.

What It's Actually Costing You

Talent nobody can read is talent nobody can hire.

The Insight

The harder you try to show us the character,
the more we see the actor trying.

The moment you try to demonstrate the emotion, danger or charm, you step outside the scene and start directing our opinion of you. Your attention leaves the other person and lands on yourself. Presence on camera is the same as presence anywhere else: stay with what's happening, listen, think, want something, let the other person change you. Your career needs the same honesty. Positioning isn't inventing a brand, it's making the most castable truth about you clear enough that the industry knows what to do with it.

Why CJLT

I didn't learn this by teaching it.
I learned it by ruining an audition first.

Early in my acting career, I walked into a room for a role I wanted badly, so afraid of being judged that I spent the entire audition guessing what they wanted instead of showing them what I actually had. I've spent more than fifteen years since then auditioning, working on sets, and discovering how much of this career nobody teaches you. I've booked roles I desperately wanted and destroyed auditions I should have nailed. I know the particular misery of trying so hard to get the job that you forget to play the scene. I can't make the industry fair. I can make sure fear, confusion and bad preparation aren't doing its job for it.

The CJLT Framework

The finished performance is only the top layer.
Freedom on camera is built underneath it.

For an actor, clear communication is a performance the audience can feel without seeing the work required to create it. Explore the full Framework →

Transformation

Stop trying to get it right.
Start becoming available for what happens.

Before
  • You watch yourself while you act.
  • You decide the result before the scene begins.
  • You choose materials because each looks good on its own.
  • Your confidence belongs to whoever sent the last yes or no.
After
  • Your attention stays inside the scene.
  • You have a process to return to under pressure.
  • Your materials tell one clear, useful casting story.
  • You can judge the work without turning the judgment on yourself.
What We Build Together

The work that makes you undeniable.

Self Tapes That Feel Alive

Not overworked, not polished into performance. Alive, present, and specific. We work on the process so every tape you submit reflects your actual level, not your anxiety.

Clear Casting Lane + Positioning

Material chosen to make you look castable right now, not who you want to be in five years. A defined lane that casting agents can read immediately and remember.

A Repeatable Process Under Pressure

The ability to access your best work consistently, in auditions, on set, under time pressure, under scrutiny. A process that holds when it matters most.

Submission-Ready Materials

Agents take you seriously. Your headshots, résumé, and self tape work together as a cohesive package that represents where you actually are, and where you're going.

What Actors Say

From the people
who've done the work.

"Charles Jazz Terrier is someone I have worked with as an acting coach for over a year and a half. As my personal acting coach and career mentor, he is always available, whether that's last-minute auditions or last-minute questions, Charles will always pick up the phone or answer an email. It's all backed by his years and decades of experience, both in front of the camera and behind it. Charles leads by example but also leads with the heart of what this industry is about, constantly putting other people before his own needs, making time for people to get their work done. He is a teacher, a mentor, someone who leads by example. Work I am proud of, work I have been pushed to get, and work I feel confident to submit or perform. Charles makes being an artist enjoyable and reliable. He is the best of the best."

"Charles is one of the nicest people I know. He is always happy to answer any questions and helped me shape and find the best path for me to become an actor. When I worked with Charles he was able to help me channel my energy into my voice with the same power I had in my movements. Charles is one of my role models and mentors in my journey of becoming an actor. If it wasn't for meeting Charles I wouldn't have a clear path ahead of me, and I wouldn't be able to channel my energy to work with me instead of against me."

"I met Charles through word of mouth, and I'm glad I did. Charles is an inspired and wildly curious mentor with a fervour for the craft. He is quick to gather your way of seeing and, in turn, fosters you to hone your own craft. He has an abundance of knowledge and experience, which he dispenses freely. He is light and humorous, which puts the room to ease. He lends a very generous hand and he truly wishes you well."
